Making a Reservation

Reserves are accessible to anyone, regardless of their affiliation, for teaching, research, and public service. General recreation is not permitted. Besides the seven UC Berkeley-managed sites, UC Nature encompasses 35 other protected landscapes across the state of California. All visitors must make a reservation, prior to visiting any site, using the Reserve Application Management System (RAMS). If you are a first-time user, you will need to create a new account.

Once you are logged into RAMS, click on the Reserves tab in the main navigation menu and search for the appropriate site. If you have received funding from us, please keep in mind award criteria and restrictions. You may have to narrow your search to Berkeley-managed sites: Angelo Coast Range Reserve, Blue Oak Ranch Reserve, Chickering American River Reserve, Hans Jenny Pygmy Reserve, Hastings Natural History Reservation, Point Reyes Field Station, Sagehen Creek Field Station.

Use Fees: Click on Reserve Amenities & Rates. Depending on your affiliation and requested facilities, each reserve charges a different rate for day-use or overnight access. Please contact our Reserve Directors if you have questions about these rates.

Availability: Click on the Calendar tab to check for availability at each reserve. Please contact our Reserve Directors if you are unsure if an amenity is available during a specific data range.

Making a Reservation: Follow the instructions on the Home page to “Create a Project” and then make sure to “Schedule a Visit” for each planned site visit associated with your project. If your visit request is approved, you will receive a confirmation email from the Reserve Director with more details about how to access the reserve.

If you need help planning your field trips or are having trouble navigating RAMS, please reach out to [email protected] for assistance.
